Welcome to the website of Gardens & Stone.
My name is Chris Fowles and I've been designing, installing and maintaining gardens for over 25 years. When my dream of becoming an architect, met my love of gardening, my business was born. It brings me great satisfaction to create outdoor living spaces; spaces that hold beauty, functionality and ease of maintenance.
My design style incorporates stone into the garden which helps anchor a landscape and make it feel like it has has history. I create clean formal lines in a garden to define the functional space and then allow the garden behind those lines to be more natural and full. This helps make the care of the garden low maintenance.
My extensive plant knowledge from my years of experience maintaining gardens, informs my plant choices as does creating contrasts of leaf colour and texture, and seasonal interest.

FAQ's
What are your rates ?
For design and installations I charge myself out at $60/hour and my employees at $35/hr
For maintenance I charge myself out at $48/hr and my employees at $32/hr.
Are you insured ?
Yes!, I have WCB + 3rd party liability insurance.
What types of projects do you do ?
I do residential and commercial projects. I specialize in design; planting; walkways and patios in flagstone, slate or concrete paver; small stone retaining walls (dry stack or mortar) .
Do you require a deposit ?
I ask for all material cost to be paid up front and labour cost to be paid upon completion.
Do you work for stratas or apartment buildings ?
Yes! I currently maintain the Van Horne building in Gastown, Robinson Tower in Yaletown, and Radius, the home of the TESLA dealership on West 4th Ave. I have also planted and maintained the outdoor pots for Capers on Cambie before it was bought out by whole foods.
